Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your child is currently working on the literacy strategy, Read voraciously, which helps with the overall goal, Expand Vocabulary.
Your child has been working on the expand vocabulary strategy of Read voraciously. Although this strategy can also be used to improve comprehension, accuracy, and fluency, your child's goal is to expand their vocabulary. The children have learned that good readers increase their vocabulary by reading, reading, and reading—thus becoming a voracious reader. It is through reading the children are able to learn new words and increase their vocabulary. There are many ways parents can encourage their child to be a voracious reader. Ask them what it means to be a voracious reader and then use some of these suggestions to encourage this strategy at home.
