This course had great reminders of the tools I can implement in my classroom. I am excited to use them when we return from break."
These tips are great reminders of what to do at the beginning and throughout the school year. I especially liked the suggestions/reminders about difficult students: Give them the opportunity to start anew, and the teacher has "amnesia"."
So many activities and ideas to implement in the classroom, thank you!"
This was a great tool to learn some new things to implement in the classroom."
Thank you for always presenting things in a clear and easy to understand way. It makes so much sense and is sound practice. You always give practical advice and tools that can be easily tranferred to the classroom. I have enjoyed using Daily 5 and CAFE for over 10 years and Math Daily 3 for the last 9 years and will continue to use them."
I found this course to be very useful, practical and honest. The activities presented were easy to to implement and in many cases, things I already use. Although the relationship first, teach to the heart idea seems very basic, it seems to, at times, be forgotten in the everyday hustle of getting through all the stuff that needs to be covered. I like hearing that research backs the fact that relationship is more important than the curriculum and that by investing time in relationship building, and treating students as humans, with love, trust and with the "Golden Rule," it is actually more beneficial in the long run, academically and behaviourally. I also truly appreciated the honesty in the information. Teachers are humans too. They will have bad days, make mistakes and experience frustration, especially when creating relationships with everybody may not always be easy. I like that this course was practical in its presentation: Easy activities with full disclosure that it does take work, reminders and practice."
Thank you for reminding me about making relationships with my students a priority, not only at the beginning of the school year but year-round!"
Living and working in Asia, it is easy to find ongoing professional development and training at the entry and mid levels. However, without the ability to leave due to lockdown, isolation and other protocols, it has been challenging to find opportunities to further develop professionally. After four years, I will be finally going home for the summer. And I will be taking you guys everywhere I go, so I can brush up oh the best learning/teaching practices."
The guidebook is an excellent addition to the video."
